Storyteller extraordinaire, Rob Caskie is back and talking The battle of Isandlwana!
The battle of Isandlwana on 22 January 1879 saw the British Army at the height of her Victorian might smashed by the Zulu army, at the foot of a mountain which uncannily resembles the Sphinx.
British commanders had the previous night split the force at Isandlwana, believing there was no threat to the camp and 1800 men in it. In a remarkable series of events the Zulu army was found hidden in a ravine only 8km from the camp.
Upon being discovered the 25 000 Zulu warriors decided to attack the camp. In under two hours the most ignominious defeat would be inflicted upon the British. An epic of human struggle and a triumph of the human spirit.
